Strings & Fareed Ayaz Qawwal To Collaborate for Shootout At Wadala

October 10, 2011

As informed earlier, Strings will be composing an uplifting Qawwali for “Shootout at Wadala“ which is a sequel to “Shootout at Lokhandwala“. The band which will be making around four to five songs, has already recorded their first song for director Sanjay Gupta’s film.

According to BollywoodHungama, the Qawwali number has been sung by Fareed Ayaz, who was last seen in the 4th season of Coke Studio.

Fareed Ayaz Qawwal, who will be making his bollywood debut as a playback singer in Gupta’s film, also plans to visit India along with Strings later this month in order to meet other Indian producers. He was also recently seen meeting bollywood director Imtiaz Ali.

Bilal Maqsood says,

“In our first meeting, Gupta narrated the story without any song situations. Since it was in its early stages he left it up to us to come up with songs that we felt would complement the theme. The movie is set in Mumbai, and knowing a few scenes will be shot around the shrine of Haji Ali, we strongly felt we should pay homage to it by doing a Qawwali. We shared this idea with Gupta and he loved it. The central idea of this Qawwali revolves around asking for forgiveness. Pakistan has been blessed with a history of great Qawwalis. Fareed Ayaz was our first choice and we were very fortunate that he consented. Doing a Qawwali was something very new for us but we are enjoying every bit of it.”
