Good Bye Irtaash, We Will Truly Miss You Guys!

October 26, 2011

“It saddens me to tell you that Irtaash will not be playing performing or making music. We are disbanding. We might individually follow our musical calling but not with Irtaash, maybe later on in life, but for now it’s a wrap. It’s been an emotional 10 years but it’s been worth it.”

IrtaashYasir Jaswal, Farooq Shah, Umer Sohail, Muhammad Talha and Ali Nadeem, has decided to call it a day as a band. What can I say? Another band bites the dust. But they’ve done it with dignity; they knew when to walk away. It is sad news indeed that they have now departed the scene. We have previously seen musicians like ADP, Karavan and Jal doing the same and now Irtaash joins the bandwagon.

The band was formed back in November 2001 when it performed for the first time on stage with Yasir Jaswal on vocals, Farooq Shah on lead guitars and Kaiser on rhythm guitars and a computer playing the bass and drum beats. In mid 2011, Irtaash released their debut album “Kala Safaid Aasmaan” which received a lot of applause from their fans. Although the band has been disbanded, there are chances that they might release one last music video for their single “Khauf” as they released some video stills a while back.

The full text from statement which Yasir Jaswal posted a few hours ago on the band’s facebook page:

Dear Friends,

First of all I would like to thank you all for your great support through out the years. You have liked and appreciated us and that’s what kept us going and for that we are ever so grateful. For the past few years Irtaash hasn’t been around may it be gigs videos or any other sort of communication. The only thing that did happen was the album launch and that too because we strongly felt that if anything we owed that much to all of you. Irtaash has always been more like 5 friends playing and making music and when any one of us wasn’t around or was busy, we didn’t replace him rather waited and put the band on pause. But now it’s almost impossible to take things forward with everyone’s commitments. Umer being in Karachi, Fahd being in Australia and Farooq being in UK meant that if the band had to go on it would’ve been with a new line up but then that would not have been Irtaash. What bothered us the most wasn’t the lack of shows or jams or music videos but the fact that we hadn’t been delivering anything to the fans which brings us to this. It saddens me to tell you that Irtaash will not be playing performing or making music. We are disbanding. We might individually follow our musical calling but not with Irtaash, maybe later on in life, but for now it’s a wrap. It’s been an emotional 10 years but it’s been worth it. So trust me when I say this and I speak for the whole band when I do that none of this would have been possible without you guys. Keep spreading our music keep playing it loud. The page will continue to operate to keep u updated on other news regarding our individual efforts or solo projects so to say.

In the end I would like to thank everyone who’s helped & believed in Irtaash and there have been many including all you guys & the band members Farooq, Umer, Ali, Fahd & Ureed Thank you for the memories & the music.

It was good, it was bad, but it was what it was and it was great.

God bless.

Cheers!

Yasir Jaswal
