Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Wins “Best Playback Singer” Award in 17th Star Screen Awards, 2011

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan certainly ruled Bollywood’s music scene in 2010 with his three big hits, “Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Jee” from the film Ishqiya, which topped all the Indian music charts through out the year, Sajda from the film My Name Is Khan and Tere Mast Mast Do Nain from the film Dabangg. All three of them were amongst the most popular Indian songs of 2010.

Last night at the 17th Star Screen Awards, Rahat was announced the winner of the “Best Playback Singer” award for his hit single “Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Jee”. Last year, he took over the music in India by winning the same award for his song “Ajj Din Chadeya” at the 16th Star Screen Awards.

The song “Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Jee” was a melodious beginning to the year. Vishal Bharadwaj was the music director, he roped in Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who sang the romantic track with such expertise that it instantly struck a chord with the listeners.

Rahat has been the most favorite playback singer of 2010 even for the Pakistani musicians.

Bilal Maqsood of Strings praised him by saying:

Atif Aslam was successful as a playback singer in 2009, but Rahat Fateh Ali Khan took over in India in 2010.

Pakistani music producer Faisal Rafi said he was the most active musician:

In 2010 it has been Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for sure. He has been an active musician who has gone to India as well as other countries.
