This year’s Lux Style Awards were held at the Expo Center in Karachi. The awards started with an amazing rap performance by Entity Paradigm‘s Ahmed Ali Butt, who was also the host for the night. The highlight of the show was Ali Zafar’s tribute to the late King of Ghazal Mehdi Hassan sahab.
This year, the awards for music category, especially that for Best Emerging Talent, received deserving attention. The big winners at the awards were Ali Zafar, who received the award for the Best Music Album for “Jhoom” from Mekaal Hasan and Zoe Viccaji, and Quratulain Balouch, who received two awards – Song of the Year and Best Original Soundtrack – for none other than “Woh Humsafar Tha,” which was produced by Waqar Ali for the drama series “Humsafar.”
The Lux Style Award for this year’s Best Music Album went to Ali Zafar for the well deserved “Jhoom”. The award was presented by Mekaal Hassan and Zoe Viccaji amid much applause and admiration. Despite Ali Zafar’s big win, the highlight of the evening was his moving tribute to the late King of Ghazal Mehdi Hassan with a soulful redition of “Mujhay Tum Nazr Say Girah Tou Rahay Ho”.
Ali Zafar later got the party started by putting on an electrifying performance with Humaima Malik to the beat of “Jhoom” and “Madhubala”. There wasn’t one audience member who did not walk away complimenting the act. The Lux Style Awards were held at the renowned Expo Centre in Karachi and remain the only Awards Academy in Pakistan that include all the categories of music, entertainment and fashion.
