Bilal Khan interpreting Junoon‘s “Aap aur Hum” in his beautiful voice for Junoon’s 20th Anniversary album. The song is based on a riff from their song “Aap aur Hum” and Bilal has tried to rework it into something new while keeping in mind the essence of Junoon’s music. The album comes out on September 30th and the proceeds that will be raised from this album will be donated to Salman and Samina’s Charity for Education.

Salman Ahmad Sends Good Wishes To Ali Azmat For Tying The Knot

A day most thought would never come: Junoon’s ex vocalist and the Pop/Rock icon, Ali Azmat is getting married today with Fariha Khan, a producer at Aag TV.

Junoon’s founder and lead guitarist, Salman Ahmad just sent his estranged friend Ali Azmat best wishes for finally getting hitched. He tweeted,

“Samina (Salman’s wife) & I send our love & good wishes to @realaliazmat for finally tying the knot with Fariha C. Inshallah, Marriage will bring greater Hope.”

A single and accompanying music video ‘If I Could Change’ released today on World Humanitarian Day (19 August, 2011) to pay tribute to humanitarian workers around the world. The track is a collaboration between various global artists including Bob Marley’s son Ziggy Marley, Somali sister-duo Sweet Rush and Salman Ahmad from the Pakistani band Junoon. Encouraging people to get involved in helping others is at the heart of World Humanitarian Day.

Shoaib Mansoor To Write Lyrics For Junoon 20th Anniversary Album

Legendary film-maker and story teller, Shoaib Mansoor who has also been a successful songwriter and music composer will for the first time write lyrics for Junoon.

Besides being a mentor to Vital Signs and Junaid Jamshed, Shoaib Mansoor has written, composed and produced most of the Vital Signs’ songs. He wrote and composed many of their hit numbers such as Dil Dil Pakistan and Aitebar. He also wrote the lyrics for his debut film “Khuda Kay Liye” and his recently released film “Bol“.

Salman Ahmad, the lead guitarist and founder of Junoon is working on putting together a 20th anniversary box-set (1991-2011), which will feature some of Junoon’s popular old songs as well as some new ones.

Brian O’ Connell To Perform With Salman Ahmad To Celebrate Junoon’s 20th Anniversary

As some of you who have seen, lived and breathed the Junooni roller-coaster ride, might be aware that Junoon‘s 20 year journey began with the release of their self titled first album on September 30, 1991.

To celebrate this long journey, Salman Ahmad will be reuniting with his high school friend and Junoon’s ex bassist and producer Brian O’ Connell. Brian will be performing with Salman on the 20th anniversary celebration concert at the Asia society on September 24th in New York.

Salman is also working on putting together a 20th anniversary box-set (1991-2011), which will chronicle the entire history of Junoon. The box-set will feature the best Junoon tracks

This year, Junoon‘s music is in full swing as Salman Ahmad has a lot of surprises for his fans. As reported earlier, he is working with Peter Gabriel for a complete album, he’s also doing his first Bollywood soundtrack for a film about a rock band in which he will also be making a guest appearance and has also recently met the acclaimed US-based Indian film director and producer Mira Nair in New York to discuss the music for her upcoming drama film, The Reluctant Fundamentalist which is based on Pakistani author Mohsin Hamid’s bestseller literary piece.

Salman Ahmad Giving Singing and Guitar Lessons

Sufi rocker, Salman Ahmad who has been described as the “Bono of Asia” will soon be giving singing and guitar lessons. After many years of successfully playing the guitar, the 47-year old guitarist and vocalist of Junoon, will be giving his fans a music workshop this summer via Skype or live.

He will be teaching his fans how to sing eastern or western styles and how to play guitars or bass. The first class will be free of charge.
