Zoe Viccaji is one of those female singers who keeps on churning out tunes every now and then and has made a large fan base over the period of time. This time around she is working on re-doing a classic song from the past. The song that is being covered by her is Mehdi Hassan’s all time classic Jab Koi Pyar Se Bulayega. It is said to be currently in the recording phase.
This year’s Lux Style Awards were held at the Expo Center in Karachi. The awards started with an amazing rap performance by Entity Paradigm‘s Ahmed Ali Butt, who was also the host for the night. The highlight of the show was Ali Zafar’s tribute to the late King of Ghazal Mehdi Hassan sahab.
This year, the awards for music category, especially that for Best Emerging Talent, received deserving attention. The big winners at the awards were Ali Zafar, who received the award for the Best Music Album for “Jhoom” from Mekaal Hasan and Zoe Viccaji, and Quratulain Balouch, who received two awards – Song of the Year and Best Original Soundtrack – for none other than “Woh Humsafar Tha,” which was produced by Waqar Ali for the drama series “Humsafar.”
Nominations for the 11th LUX Style Awards were announced in Karachi this week. The Awards office of Pakistan’s most credible and coveted Awards released nominations in 26 categories in the genres of Film, Music, Television and Fashion.
The LSA Film Jury voted for Bol across all three categories. Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol was the sole film that made the grade and qualified as a bonafide entrant for an Award that is given out for excellence in cinema.
As the music industry adapts to the changing mechanics of the world, we see increased artistic output and an even greater reception. Instead of record companies, the artists are turning to sponsors and the trend of cover songs is gaining momentum. Cover songs are a great way to show off your skills and pay tribute to your heroes, but it wasn’t a very common practice until very recently. Bilal Khan is the new face for LEVI’S along with Strings and Zoe Viccaji. Globally, Levi’s has always been a proponent of tasteful music and is aesthetically a cool brand.
Zoe Viccaji did a song tribute to Strings that comes out on May 30th. Bilal Khan’s song comes out on June 10th.
