The final show of the last day at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week was by Umer Sayeed, who is often credited as amongst fashion’s design masters in Pakistan. His bridal showcase was opened and closed by actor, musician and model Fawad Khan and actress Mahira Khan Askari, also lead actors of much acclaimed drama serial “Humsafar”. The showcase by Damas was the third and last solo jewellery show at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week. The multinational jewellery brand presented a wide array of its brands. L’Oréal Pakistan spokesperson Meesha Shafi opened the Damas showcase singing Marilyn Monroe’s ‘Diamonds are a girl’s best friend’ live on stage wearing their museum piece diamond mask. Asifa and Nabeel’s show opened with the title song of popular Pakistani television serial “Humsafar” sung live by musician Quratulain Balouch (QB), which was followed by another live musical performance by singer Bilal Khan. The show concluded with another song by QB.

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair behind Salaam Bombay!, Monsoon Wedding and The Namesake, has begun shooting for her new film based on Mohsin Hamid’s bestselling novel The Reluctant Fundamentalist. A Mirabai Films and Cine Mosaic production, the film is adapted by Bill Wheeler, Mohsin Hamid, and Ami Boghani and produced by Lydia Dean Pilcher. The film started shooting this week on location in Atlanta, New York, Lahore, Delhi and Istanbul.
The Reluctant Fundamentalist is a riveting thriller about Changez, a young Pakistani man chasing corporate success on Wall Street in the era of globalization.
