Rabbi Shergill to be featured in Coke Studio Season 4Indian Express, an Indian newspaper group claims that Indian singer “Rabbi Shergill” will be part of Pakistan’s biggest live music show, Coke Studio.

The highly successful Pakistani TV show will feature Rabbi Shergill, an Indian musician well known for his chart-topper song of 2005, “Bulla Ki Jaana” which was based on the poetry of 18th century Muslim Sufi mystic Baba Bulleh Shah. His music has been described as semi-Sufi semi-folksy kind of music with a lot of Western arrangements.

The newspaper claims,

“The singer (Rabbi) flew to Pakistan on Saturday for about a week for what would be the first Indo-Pak collaboration by Coke Studio. The bid to get Rabbi to be a part of the fourth season started late last year.”

Sajjad Ali Spotted On The Set Of Coke Studio

Sajjad Ali was recently spotted on the set of Coke Studio which is located at Studio 146 in the Korangi Industrial Area, Karachi. So, there is a huge possibility that the 44 year old Pakistani semi-classical/pop singer might be seen in the highly anticipated fourth edition of the live music based television series which will air in the summers of 2011.

The production of the fourth season of Coke Studio will kick-start from March 13th, 2011 said the Assistant Producer of Coke Studio, Zohaib Kazi.

Coke Studio, owned by the Coca-Cola Company and Frequency Media has become a national phenomenon and is a source of pride for Pakistanis. It focuses on a fusion of the diverse musical influences in Pakistan, including eastern classical, folk, and contemporary popular music, and is loved by music loves across the borders.

Our sources from the closet have revealed to us that Zameer who regularly collaborates with his brother from the band Dead Shyre, and his cousins from the legendary Pakistani band Noori apparently will be part of the next season of Coke Studio which will air in the summers of 2011.

Zameer’s influences range from bands like Wham and N’Sync, Metallica and Alice In Chains, all the way to Eric Clapton and Sting. The result has spun Zameer’s music into a unique pop/rock fiber that attracted five-time Grammy award-winning producer, Steve Thompson, to produce his work (Steve has produced Madonna, John Lennon and several others).

AAG BandHaroon Sheikh, the lead vocalist and guitar player of the band AAG, one of  the most amazing underground bands that we have heard in a while, claims that he along with his other band members is a part of the upcoming season of Coke Studio i.e season 4.

Earlier today, we also broke the news that Irfan Ahmed (Charlie) will play the drums along with Louis J. Pinto (Gumby) in Coke Studio Season 4. Now Haroon claims that his band will be featured in the next season of Coke Studio which will air in the summers of 2011. This shows that Rohail and his team have already started selecting the musicians for his critically acclaimed and iconic music project.
