CityFM89 celebrates World Music Day across the country (Pictures)

On Friday, the 22nd of June 2012, CityFM89 celebrated World Music Day in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad simultaneously. 20 up and coming Pakistani bands performed in the three cities.

The Karachi event took place at Port Grand. Khalid Malik of The Breakfast Show on CityFM89 hosted the evening. The show started off with Hassan Hussain performing Pakistani pop classics and his original single “Rangeen Raat” Up next was 7 on 3rd, fronted by Gibran Nasir, who performed covers of popular songs such as Adele’s Rolling In The Deep and Vital Signs’ ‘Dil Dil Pakistan.’

Coke Studio is one of the biggest musical phenomenon of the past decade and five years on, it is still successfully running and much appreciated by a wide audience all across the globe. It all started in 2008 when Rohail Hyatt of Vital Signs fame came up with his brain child and an idea that instantly clicked. Although the first season was quite a big hit and introduced a new dimension to the local music scene, but many people were still not really aware of this project and it took some time for them to digest it.

Bilal Khan Shares His Experience of Coming Back on Coke Studio [Interview]

Bilal Khan, who returns for the new season of Coke Studio, talks about his feelings of performing in CS for the second time. The songs he has done this time are from his second album “Maktoob”. His first song which is called “Larho Mujhey”, comes out on 27th May.

1. How do you feel about your performance on Coke Studio. What kind of reaction are you expecting from the audience?

I was right in the sweet spot I need to be while singing. Just like in my last season with Coke, I performed original songs, written and composed by myself. But its always tricky because there’s no barometer to gauge how well you’re doing at the end of it.

With the airing of Episode 5, the journey of Coke Studio Season 4 comes to an end. Coke Studio’s fifth and final episode of the 2011 Season includes just two performances and that some more tracks will be released after Ramzan as announced by Coke Studio on their facebook page.
