Zeb and Haniya Working on Two Albums Simultaneously

There is a good news for all Zeb and Haniya fans as they recently revealed in an interview that they are not only engaging themselves for an EP release, but also working on a new album. This will be a separate project from their EP, which is in the post production phase and is currently being mixed to be released later at the end of this year. This new album of theirs is said to be based upon collaborations and most importantly will be featuring their friend artists from across the border, India.

Zeb and Haniya on Music, Politics, and Women in Pakistan” was hosted by Cynthia Schneider at Georgetown University, with Professors Christine Fair and Paula Newberg. The musical duo fielded questions on music piracy in Pakistan, their experiences attending college in the U.S., their musical collaborations, being women public figures in Pakistan, and more. Zeb & Haniya in Akron, Ohio – Center Stage US Tour (Pictures)

Zeb and Haniya along with the band arrived in Akron, the first stop on their Center Stage US tour, on Wednesday night. They’ve had an action-packed few days and are looking forward to open their United States tour with a performance tonight at the University of Akron in Guzzetta Recital Hall. Zeb and Haniya will also perform on Saturday, September 8 amidst several ethnic and international groups during the inaugural Global Village Festival of Greater Akron at Lock 3 in downtown Akron. Then they will tour with their band to Washington, Wisconsin, Albuquerque, Helena, Denver and Houston. Check out the photos below, courtesy of Center Stage.

Zeb & Haniya, Shantanu and Swanand Teams Up Again

It’s been a quite some time since the singing sensation Zeb and Haniya have come out with something new and big. But right now there is definitely something cooking up at their end and hopefully we will be hearing it pretty soon. This would be a cross-border collaboration for them. Zeb and Haniya would once again be teaming up with Shantanu Moitra and Swanand Kirkire of the Dewarists fame. All four of them have previously collaborated for Dewarists song too.

It is really heartening to see our country’s talent being once again recognized across the border by such ace musicians

The Evolution of Coke Studio Pakistan

Coke Studio is one of the biggest musical phenomenon of the past decade and five years on, it is still successfully running and much appreciated by a wide audience all across the globe. It all started in 2008 when Rohail Hyatt of Vital Signs fame came up with his brain child and an idea that instantly clicked. Although the first season was quite a big hit and introduced a new dimension to the local music scene, but many people were still not really aware of this project and it took some time for them to digest it.

Zeb and Haniya are a singer/songwriter duo based in Lahore, Pakistan. They write their own songs and also rework existing melodies of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India.

Zeb and Haniya’s songs are set to music influenced by the classical tradition of the Indian subcontinent, Latin and west African grooves, American folk and blues, and their lyrics are poignant, soulful, and emotive. Their latest recordings have included songs in Turkish, Dari, and Pushto.
