The Battle of Sur (Kshetra)

October 13, 2012

Any sort of competition between Pakistan and India has always got an extra appeal to it. Pakistan and India have fought more than 3 wars in past half a century which truly justifies the hype surrounding any affair of the two nations. The cricket rivalry among the two nations is considered to be one of the most strained one in any sport around the world. But at the end of the day, Pakistani stars have their own charisma and demand in the Indian crowd and there is no anomaly to it when it comes to the singing arena.

Sur Kshetra and the Controversies Attached to It

January 29, 2012

There have been quite a lot of controversies about the upcoming television show Sur Kshetra also known as Sur Ki Baazi in Pakistan even before the show has actually begun. The recent one being about what seem to be “fake auditions” as held by Geo TV.

I think Geo is becoming a disliked TV channel. First because the way it sensationalizes news and now what seems to be a scam as money has been raised by the channel for what hasn’t been delivered.

The promos of “Sur Ki Baazi” were aired very enthusiastically on GEO TV catching the attention of many people who wanted a platform and a chance to sing and prove their skills. But according to a source who made it to both the auditions (yes there were two of them), the auditions which were to be held on the 17th and 18th of January according to the promos, were actually fake as the real auditions were held early at Planet X in Islamabad.

Atif Aslam will soon start shooting for a three-month-long musical reality TV show, Sur Kshetra, where he will be captaining the Pakistani singers and Indian singer Himesh Reshammiya will captain the Indian side. The show will be shot in Dubai and will most likely go on air early next year.

Apart from this show, Atif will also be jamming with ex-members of American rock band, Guns N’ Roses, for the Coke Studio sessions. Right now, we’re unsure whether he will perform for the Pakistani version of the show or the Indian.
