While Ali Zafar has multiple mega hit tracks to his name with lots of awards and vast recognition, it wasn’t until very recently that the poster boy for Pak-Pop showed the world that he deserves all the attention for his music. The improvement was first highlighted with his various appearances in Coke Studio series, performing some of his old material but mostly leaning towards a new soulful musical direction. This great musical growth was sustained pretty well in his 3rd album “Jhoom” which was released by his own label Alif Records (and by YRF Music in India) roughly a year ago.

Ali Zafar Worked With Four Female Musicians For London, Paris, New York

December 9, 2011

Ali Zafar, the music director of London, Paris, New York (LPNY) has taken two diverse female singing talents on board from both sides of the border. One is his very own co-star, Aditi Rao Hydari, who “sang beautifully herself in a song,” says Ali. “Normally it’s either the hero or heroine who lend his or her voice to a song. But in this case, I decided we’d both sing because Aditi has a nice, soothing voice.” The other Indian singer is the pop sensation, Sunidhi Chauhan. It will be the first time that Ali has worked for a song with Sunidhi.

Rest of the two are popular Pakistani singers, whose names have not yet been revealed. Ali’s PR Manager, Ammara Hikmat said that Ali brought “two versatile Pakistani female singers with some killer vocals to perk up LPNY’s music.”

Zeb and Haniya: Live music is a problem in Pakistan

MTV India‘s new music show called “MTV Roots” is a weekly show featuring artists/bands of South Asian origin from around the world. The launch episode of MTV Roots featured music videos of various South Asian artists including Mekaal Hasan Band. The main idea behind the show is to promote the bands of South Asia that are not so popular in India.

Zeb and Haniya who is soon going to be seen on MTV Roots, on the World Music Day, had a chat with their fans on MTV India’s twitter.

For all those who missed this fun-filled interaction, here are the excerpts:

Q: Which Indian artist do you listen to?

Haniya: “I’ve listen to a lot of Indian music. R.D. Burman, S.D. Burman, Madan Mohan right upto Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy!”
