Zinda Bhaag set to be released in USAPakistani film Zinda Bhaag, currently doing record business in Pakistani theatres, is set to be released in the USA on 18th October.

“This is another stamp of approval for Zinda Bhaag. It is the first Pakistani film to have found US release while still in theatres,” said producer Mazhar Zaidi.

Zinda Bhaag, starring Naseeruddin Shah and directed by Meenu and Farjad has earned huge praise across the board. After picking up four awards at the Mosaic-Misaff festival in Canada it became Pakistan’s first entry in fifty years for Oscars consideration.

Zinda Bhaag Nominated for Oscar ConsiderationThe Pakistani Academy Selection Committee has selected ‘Zinda Bhaag‘ as the first Pakistani film in over fifty years to be submitted for Oscar consideration in the ‘Foreign Language Film Award’ category at the 86th Academy Awards. A total of four films were submitted to the committee for consideration including Chambeli, Josh and Lamha (Seedlings) in addition to Zinda Bhaag. The movie was selected by way of a secret ballot and was the overwhelming film of choice of the Committee members. As per standard practice, films selected by each individual country’s Academy selection committee are submitted to the Academy for screening, shortlisting and voting with official Oscar nominees announced at a later date.

It’s a Hollywood venture directed by critically acclaimed Mira Nair and the movie is based on the all time best seller novel by Mohsin Hamid of the same name. Being an entirety Hollywood movie, what interests the local audiences is its story line that is deeply embedded in Pakistan. Still with whole of the story line based on a Pakistani, it couldn’t be shot in Pakistan due to some unforeseen circumstances but here comes the Pakistani music to the rescue as almost the complete soundtrack of this Hollywood flick consists of local singers which makes this movie even a better delight to watch. Of all of them, Atif Aslam once again tops the chart with his amazing vocal that he had lent for two of the tracks from the movie.

The story revolves around a young man ‘Changaiz Khan’ whose charisma and intelligence catapult him to become a leader both in the eyes of the Pakistani students that adore him, and the American government that suspects.

In 2010, as student demonstrations rage in Lahore, a young Pakistani professor Changez Khan (Riz Ahmed) is interviewed by American journalist Bobby Lincoln (Liev Schreiber). Princeton-educated Changez tells Lincoln of his past as a brilliant business analyst on Wall Street. He talks of the glittering future that lay before him, his mentor, Jim Cross (Kiefer Sutherland), and the beautiful and sophisticated Erica (Kate Hudson), with whom he was set to share that future.
