Lux Style Awards 2012: Music Winners & Event Pictures

This year’s Lux Style Awards were held at the Expo Center in Karachi. The awards started with an amazing rap performance by Entity Paradigm‘s Ahmed Ali Butt, who was also the host for the night. The highlight of the show was Ali Zafar’s tribute to the late King of Ghazal Mehdi Hassan sahab.

This year, the awards for music category, especially that for Best Emerging Talent, received deserving attention. The big winners at the awards were Ali Zafar, who received the award for the Best Music Album for “Jhoom” from Mekaal Hasan and Zoe Viccaji, and Quratulain Balouch, who received two awards – Song of the Year and Best Original Soundtrack – for none other than “Woh Humsafar Tha,” which was produced by Waqar Ali for the drama series “Humsafar.”

The award for Best Music Video Director as per LSA voting was given to Adnan Malik for “Mera Bichra Yaar” (by Zoe Viccaji & Strings).

LUX Style Awards 2012: Music Nominations

Nominations for the 11th LUX Style Awards were announced in Karachi this week. The Awards office of Pakistan’s most credible and coveted Awards released nominations in 26 categories in the genres of Film, Music, Television and Fashion.

The LSA Film Jury voted for Bol across all three categories. Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol was the sole film that made the grade and qualified as a bonafide entrant for an Award that is given out for excellence in cinema.

The band Call‘s lead vocalist Junaid Khan and actor-cum-model-cum-singer Sanam Saeed shooting for director Mehreen Jabbar‘s television drama series “Mata-e-Jaan” in an apartment in New York City. Junaid Khan To Star In Jabbar’s Mata-e-Jaan; Music by Bilal Khan

Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu, a beautiful social romantic Urdu novel, written by popular novelist Farhat Ishtiaq is now being turned into a television drama series by Pakistan’s ace film-maker and television director Mehreen Jabbar.

Mata-e-Jaan, which is going to be Mehreen’s 20th directorial venture, has gone on floor. It takes place in New York City and stars Junaid Khan (of Call fame) in one of the pivotal roles. It will be Junaid’s 4th acting experience. Other cast members include: Sarwat Gillani, Sanam Saaed, Adeel Husain and more.

The official soundtrack will be sung by the young musician Bilal Khan which is apparently going to be his first song for a television series.
