The Coke Studio Journey continues with Episode 3

(Pakistan, 18 June 2011) On 19 June 2011, the Coke Studio journey continues through time with Episode 3, presenting a cross section of genres and artists representing generations of listeners. Performances in Episode 3 will outline a history – from the diversity of music that defines the present to flavors from the recent history of contemporary music and on to the sounds that are a part of our cultural heritage.

Tracing the inspiration of some of today’s music back to an ancient source, this episode will feature Mole’s “Baageshri” – an experimental fusion track where the band has utilized modern tools of technology side by side with eastern and westerns instruments to achieve a unique sound – a first for Coke Studio.

Featured Artists in Episode 3 of Coke Studio Season 4 [Promo]

For us, the featured artists of the third episode aren’t unfamiliar or surprising. We have already seen Jal, Bilal Khan and Sanam Marvi perform in the first episode of the fourth season.

Speculations of Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch had been around for quite sometime but her presence was later confirmed by these leaked snapshots from the set. The snapshots also hinted the collaboration with Jal which has also come out to be true.

Mole and Saami Sahab were confirmed by these pictures of billboards yesterday.

May 12, 2011

The news of Rabbi Shergill and Jal performing at the Coke Studio Season 4 has been surfacing for quite sometime. What we weren’t hearing was that they are performing together.

While everyone was lip-tight about the season 4 of the Coke Studio, Jal, for reasons unknown, has tried to spill out as much information as possible. Jal confirmed their presence in the show back in December last year and later leaked a few images with Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch, confirming her inclusion and a potential collaboration. They confirmed that they will be performing three tracks this season. They even announced the season launch date before the Coke Studio could officially do it.

Goher Mumtaz to Debut Acting With Drama ‘Kountry Luv’

April 4, 2011

We have a really small industry when it comes to acting and hence more and more musicians are offered roles in movies and dramas. Previously we have seen musicians like Ali Zafar and Fawad Khan working in movies and dramas. Atif Aslam will soon be seen making debut in “Bol“, a feature film by Shoman. This time around it’s Goher Mumtaz of Jal who is making his acting debut with a drama called “Country Club”.

Goher Mumtaz has confirmed this and also hinted that he’s already working on Jal’s upcoming album along with the drama.
