Last week, the much awaited second season of Nescafe Basement finally came out and was released simultaneously on various TV channels and online as well. The timing of the basement is said to be very crucial as it coincides with another already running and highly anticipated music show.

Supervised under the brilliance of the maestro Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan a.k.a Xulfi, Nescafe Basement first came up last summer with some mixed reviews from the audiences. But it was mainly the concert tours later on that made this music show much more familiar in the masses.

Emu Launches “Emix Records”

Imran Momina, commonly known as Emu, is a pianist and composer who has been playing for Fuzon since the band emerged. Emu also owns a recording studio where the most part of the recording for Fuzon is done. Emu has also produced for artists like Ali Haider and Najam Sheraz. On 21st of October, Emu held a launching ceremony for his record label “Emix Records” which will be distributing the musical content through Royal Records.

Because of the commercial state of music in Pakistan, musicians have been either coming up with their own record labels or going ahead with Indie releases.  We have previously highlighted how Pakistanis have been relying on the indie route when it comes to selling or distributing music.

12 Artists Confirmed for Coke Studio @ MTV (India)

Coke Studio @ MTV (India) has been swinging at the full pace and we’re getting frequent updates as much as multiple times a day. We have just received a list of twelve artists who have been confirmed to perform in the first season of Coke Studio @ MTV.

As reported earlier, the first season will begin with Shafqat Amanat Ali’s “Akhiyan”. Other confirmed artists include Shruti Pathak, Advaita, Shankar Mahadevan, Raghu Dixit, Kailash Kher, Wadali Bros, Sabri Bros, Shaan, Papon (from Assam), Sanjeev T & KK.

So, the shooting of Coke Studio India (also known as Coke Studio @ MTV) has begun today. Pakistani classical singer Shafqat Amanat Ali being the main artist is collaborating with Bollywood playback singer Shruti Pathak. They are recording famous Pakistani song ‘Akhiyan Tu Olay Olay’, which was released in 2004 as part of an album called Sagar by Fuzön, in the first episode of Coke Studio India which is produced and mentored by Leslie Lewis.
