After Islamabad and Lahore, Red Bull BC One All Stars third and final workshop took place on the 30th of June at MAD School in Karachi. Visiting the city for the first time where the biggest B-Boy community resides in the country, Lilou and Pelezinho were delighted to see the large turnout of young B-Boys at the venue. The excitement got even bigger when Lilou and Pelezinho entered the venue and more than 60 B-Boys greeted their idols by cheering and chanting their names.
After Islamabad, Red Bull BC One All Stars second workshop in Pakistan took place in Lahore on the 28th of June, 2013 at Shapes Health Studio. Visiting Pakistan for the first time, two of the world’s best B-Boys ‘Lilou and Pelezinho‘ took this opportunity to explore and experience the local B-Boy scene in the main cultural center of Pakistan.
After the registration process that took place on the same day from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm, 20 young B-Boys from Lahore showcased their B-Boying skills in front of their idols ‘Lilou and Pelezinho’.
Red Bull BC One All Stars Pakistan Workshop officially kicked-off on the 26th of June, 2013 in Islamabad. For the first time two of the world’s best B-Boys ‘Lilou and Pelezinho’ conducted a workshop in Islamabad to explore and experience the B-Boy scene in the capital city of Pakistan. Both Lilou and Pelezinho took this opportunity to teach and share their knowledge about B-Boying with the local B-Boys present at the event. The workshop took place at Kuch Khaas where young B-Boys from all across Islamabad turned up to meet their favourite B-Boy Legends ‘Lilou and Pelezinho’ in action and most importantly in-person, in their own country Pakistan.
Quality is once again expected to make a comeback to the Pakistani cinemas as there are numerous commercial and feature films lined up for release in the near future that are certainly expected to create ripples in almost dead waters of the Pakistani film industry.
Earlier this year, we saw the release of two films that attracted quite a lot of audience despite their low budget and unknown faces.
So finally the much awaited film of the season ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist‘ got released almost a month ago. It’s a Hollywood venture directed by critically acclaimed Mira Nair and the movie is based on the all time best seller novel by Mohsin Hamid of the same name. Being an entirety Hollywood movie, what interests the local audiences is its story line that is deeply embedded in Pakistan. Still with whole of the story line based on a Pakistani, it couldn’t be shot in Pakistan due to some unforeseen circumstances but here comes the Pakistani music to the rescue as almost the complete soundtrack of this Hollywood flick consists of local singers which makes this movie even a better delight to watch. Of all of them, Atif Aslam once again tops the chart with his amazing vocal that he had lent for two of the tracks from the movie.
The Red Bull Music Academy has just completed the first term of its 2013 tenure in New York, adding its own signature to the city’s rich music scene with an array of concerts, club nights, exhibitions, workshops, and lectures with legendary music makers. Highlights included watershed events like the cross-genre sound battle Culture Clash – “one of New York’s best nights ever” (MTV Iggy), an audiovisual installation by Brian Eno, and a festival-within-a-festival of drone and noise music at Queens’ spectacular Knockdown Center.
An exciting new music based initiative, Pepsi SMASH, went viral yesterday in Pakistan, and Overload’s very own Farhad Humayun has a big hand to play in the realization of this mega project. Via the platform of his production company Riot Productions, Farhad has acted as the producer & video director for Pepsi SMASH, having overseen various important areas of the project. The music has been produced by Overload’s keyboardist/composer Sheraz Siddiq & Pakistan’s foremost DJ, Faisal Baig.
KARACHI: In collaboration with some of the most renowned artists of the Pakistan music industry, Cornetto, the most popular frozen dessert brand amongst the Pakistani youth, is bringing a fresh music platform, the Cornetto Music Icons. Cornetto Music Icons began airing on 28th April 2013, with one episode every week. The show aims to pick the best of the wellspring of the new vocal talent from the Pakistani youth and mould them into future icons through a 10 episode TV show on the ARY Network and PTV starting end April 2013.
Human beings are very unpredictable creatures and their liking and disliking can change at any time. Perhaps this is where the beauty and the versatility of the man lie. And it’s the human nature to keep on evolving with time but our surroundings do play an important role in defining ourselves.
