Atif Aslam to be in Coke Studio with Guns N’ Roses (Update)

December 28, 2011

Atif Aslam will soon start shooting for a three-month-long musical reality TV show, Sur Kshetra, where he will be captaining the Pakistani singers and Indian singer Himesh Reshammiya will captain the Indian side. The show will be shot in Dubai and will most likely go on air early next year.

Apart from this show, Atif will also be jamming with ex-members of American rock band, Guns N’ Roses, for the Coke Studio sessions. Right now, we’re unsure whether he will perform for the Pakistani version of the show or the Indian. In an interview with HindustanTimes, Atif mentioned that he “will also be performing with a couple of popular Rajasthani folk artistes,” which indicates as if he will be performing on Coke Studio @ MTV. But, it could also be Pakistani Coke Studio as season 4 featured a Rajasthani singer, Asif Samraat. Also, it is unlikely that the members of Pakistan America: Peace Through Music Project would jam for an Indian live music show. As this news has been released by the Indian media, we are trying to confirm it and as soon as we get the confirmation, we will update this page.

Atif also said that he loves the concept of Coke Studio and it was hard for him to say “no” to it. “I’m looking forward to the session, it’s been a dream of sorts… On Coke Studio, we get a chance to play different genres of music with different artistes. I love the concept of the show and just couldn’t say no.”

If the news is true then we will see Atif in Coke Studio once again and that too with international musicians.

Update: “This is a RUMOR,” says the Sonic Peacemakers, while Hindustan Times claim to have interviewed Atif.
