Review:

It definitely is summertime! An energetic and catchy rock tune shot by the pool featuring friendly faces from the VJ world. Wajahat Rauf’s (M-Live fame) new song Waada reminds one of Noori‘s songs from their early days. Casual and unusual lyrics, punk rockish guitars & drums meshed with a really catchy re-chorus make up this 2 minute 45 second song that is creating quite a buzz on music channels, radio and social networking sites. In these depressing times, it is nice to see such youthful energy lip-synched and danced on by Anoushey Ashraf, Shahroze Sabzwari, Natasha Saleem, Ahmed Safdar, Fatima Syed along with new comers Yasir Hussain, Zara Zafar, Rabiya Kazi and a crazy little thing they call Aashir (the kid with the glasses).

The lyrics, “Unhein raston pe phir chal ke daikho zara, unhein ghaltiyon pe phir, hans ke daikho zara” starts the song just about right and sets the mood for what is to come. “Maan lo ke life mein tum hee to ho”. Half way through the video, it transitions into night time where the cast is now on a deck of some sort doing some more lip synching and dancing. Kudos to the director (which we’ve heard is Wajahat himself) for capturing the summer feel so well. I would compare Wajahat’s sound to of course, Noori, Third eye Blind, Blink 182 and so on. Definitely, one of those sing along melodies.

Wajahat has a Masters in Mass Communication from California State University and also writes and directs for TV. Some popular television shows he has made include 6 degrees, Karachi High, Kya Life Hai, Minglish and M-Live. He learnt the piano when he was 7 and picked up the guitar later on in college in the US which according to him ‘looked cooler’.

Let’s see if Waada can promise and pave a path for Wajahat in our not to flourishing music industry.
