Mahmood Rahman: Meesha and I will continue to make music together

Overload‘s ex-guitarist, Mahmood Rahman, who started playing with Noori a few months ago says, he will continue to make music with his wife, Meesha Shafi. He will be producing some tracks for her. “Meesha and I will continue to make music together, which is a luxury that comes hand in hand with living with a fantastic singer. I’m going to be producing some tracks for her, which should be a lot of fun,” says Mahmood in an interview with INSTEP.

Mahmood Rahman left Overload for several different reasons;

“I felt like the work I did with Overload had reached the maximum potential that it could. Playing guitar in an essentially percussion-centric band was eventually limiting and I wanted to move on to making music in a more dynamic dimension. I also felt that with Overload, there were growing creative and practical differences and these were fast proving irreconcilable. In such situations, I maintain that its best to simply walk away, move on and explore new dimensions. Let’s leave it at that. Neither Meesha nor I are the sort of people who would air our dirty linen in public.”

Mahmood Rahman, who played on SYMT‘s album, will “be happy to play bass for them on more songs and live gigs. Playing with SYMT has been a blast. I think their music is fun, and they gave me a free hand to play whatever I wanted to. Playing bass after playing the guitar professionally was also a pleasant change. I think the SYMT boys are very talented.”

Individually, Mahmood will still be touring and playing guitar.

“I started playing with Noori a few months ago, and I love their crazy, high-energy shows. Nothing beats some good old-fashioned rock!”
