Today Fox News published a report on Pakistan and refereed to it as Pornistan claiming that it is “No. 1 Nation in Sexy Web Searches”. Whatever keywords Fox News has mentioned are factual and not made-up. I don’t deny the fact that Pakistan ranks 1st on these keywords. I also don’t deny the fact that porn is popular in Pakistan. However, I deny that Pakistan is “No. 1 Nation in Sexy Web Searches” as claimed by Fox News.

Pakistan is top dog in searches per-person for “horse sex” since 2004, “donkey sex” since 2007, “rape pictures” between 2004 and 2009, “rape sex” since 2004, “child sex” between 2004 and 2007 and since 2009, “animal sex” since 2004 and “dog sex” since 2005, according to Google Trends and Google Insights, features of Google that generate data based on popular search terms.

It’s funny how the mentioned keywords are few of the least popular keywords when it comes to pornography. Below is the image of comparison of these keywords along with other major keywords related to pornography like “sex”, “porn”, “big tits”

If you have a look at the image, the search volume for keyword “sex” is FAAAR more than other keywords. Keyword “Porn” has the 2nd highest search volume. Followed by “big tits” and then there is this little search volume for “rape sex” and “horse sex” which you might spot with a magnifying glass.

Since we have an understanding that other keywords consume much largely to porn searches, let’s now have a look at their traffic distribution.

Regional traffic for “Sex”:

Regional traffic for “Porn”:

Regional traffic for “Big tits”:

I don’t see Pakistan occurring even in the top 10 regions here. It’s a shame how Fox news has refereed to a country as Pornistan just to sell their papers off. We all exactly know the status of Fox news in international media. The stunt they played is exactly like referring to Pakistan as “Number 1 nation in music searches” since it ranks number 1 on keyword “Sufi Music”!

  1. Yeah. I had a feeling they were wrong. I mean, compare the number of people in Pakistan who use the internet vs. other countries and you’ll realize that it is just not possible for Pakistan to be the no. 1 in all those search terms!

Wonderful Analysis & Counter Attack. FOX is so biased and the world know this. This was another propaganda reporting by “Biased Media Group”. They should think before calling any country with that abusive term.

  5. D. says:

Well I why have Fox news not mentioned India as atleast the 2nd biggest nation is all the obscure search categories they have mentioned in their reports because India is apparently appearing in all the lists. Apart from India(I have no bias with indians though, just providing my analysis on basic statistics) I see other countries like Australia, USA, UK, Canada, Italy etc appearing in two lists atleast. Why not them?
America itself has the biggest industry for porn!
Moreover, Pakistan as compared to above countries has less population, which in short means less searches.
So before Fox or any other poop selling news media should make their facts right before making them public.
    Thanks for the article.

  6. D. says:

One more point i would like to highlight that there are only 100 million internet users approximately out of 180 million of our whole of Pakistan’s population.

  15. Nice, nice. I was wondering why they didn’t had screenshots. Now I know the reason. By the way even if we watch we are just veiwers.. and they are the actual performers who do it. Even if we search for dog sex, we are just watching and they are doing it. EEEH.. really sex with the dog? May be even I will watch out of curiosity if someone can get that sick that they had sex with dog. Fox news sucks.. Very nice counter. Send the link to the editor and tell him to have guts to publish this report too.

  16. Great insight Hamad! At last someone stepped up and showed us the true picture. At least Hamad made an effort to clarify the propaganda.

    I salute you Hamad!

An excellent answer to the a clearly BIASED article written by FOX NEWS!

Now i would like to mention few more things:

Here are my results for ‘child sex’ term:

    Google Trends:http://www.google.com/trends?q=child+sex&geo=pak&sa=N... See more

    Google Insight:http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=child%20sex&geo=PK&cmpt=q

From the above graphs, it can clearly be seen that the fox claims of Pakistan being No 1 in terms of keyword ‘child sex’ are FALSE! same can be seen for other terms!

Official statement from Google is that both Trends and Insight use same data, hence their curves should be consistent, but we clearly see a massive difference here!

Great analysis, you did a great work, The biased western media is always doing bull shit like that.

  25. Osama says:

Some of the information in the post is not right. E.g, for the keyword “sex” pakistan tops the list while the writer has removed Pakistan from even the whole list.
And getting those stats isn’t some rocket science, just visit: http://google.com/trends
and type in any word to check out the trends in every region of the world.
I am a Pakistani aswell, but I think publishing wrong information isn’t the solution of the issue.

  27. Mustafa Khan says:

I appreciate your effort with putting up this article. Always enlightening to see when a big news company presents false information. While I do agree 100% that Fox news consists of repugnant idiots, their accusations on Pakistan regarding the search terms are, unfortunately, true. From what I see, the issue isn’t pornography, and they were wrong in stating that Pakistan is “Pornistan”. There are other countries which trump Pakistan when it comes to the average porn-related terms, you’ve proven that quite well in this article.
However, if you look carefully at the search terms like “rape sex”, “child sex”, and “animal sex” they don’t really have much to do with pornography but rather with sadistic and creepy minds. The people who search for these terms in hopes of finding content are, quite frankly, horrible people. Unfortunately Pakistan ranks number one when it comes to search terms like these, you are free to look it up (http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=child%20sex&cmpt=q). It really says something about our morals and ethics. I could be wrong however, as I wasn’t able to see how many people made these kinds of searches. You’ll find atrocious people in every nation. But as I said before, the issue wasn’t pornography, and Fox was wrong in saying that. I’m more worried about Pakistan ranking at the top of these other search terms.
    Have a nice day.

Very well done. It is a fact that the total population of internet users in Pakistan is 8 million, which is less than 5% of the total population of Pakistan. Also the original article on Fox News was written by an intern. So you can imagine the kind of hypocrisy ongoing at Fox News. FOX news report is NOT wrong. Pakistan WAS on the top few days back.

But I don’t believe Pakistanis are so bizarre to search about Donkey or Camel sex. The fact is using search engine optimization techniques (SEO), you can manipulate google trends.

Its more of a conspiracy against Pakistan.

  47. Google Trends does not represents a country view. These people are may be few in quantity. Most of them are youngster.

Why NOT they highlight Pakistanis are in the top of the list for following searches i.e Quran, English, Islam, Cricket,
Most people of USA searched the terms suicide, death, kill, hunt, b…lack. Does this mean they like them? Though they are on the top of the list!

    I have different view.

You know for searching on the Internet we normally use English. An average Pakistanis English is no so good. Do you thing English people DON’T search bad things? NO, they do but with different wording OR specific words. Just check that words too on Google trends, it will reveals hidden truth.

They are laughing at us! They should look inside themselves, how bad values they have!
