منہ آئی بات نہ رہندی اے
moonh aai baat na raihndi ai
what comes to the lips can’t remain unsaid
جھوٹ آکھاں کچھ بچدا اے
jhoot aakhaan kuchh bachda ai
I speak a lie and little remains
سچ آکھاں بهانبڑ مچدا اے
sach aakhaan bhaambar machda ai
I speak the truth and a fiery uproar is caused
دوہاں گلاں توں جی جچدا اے
donhaan gallaan taun ji jachda ai
from both these things, the heart shrinks
جچ جچ کے جبھاں کہندی اے
jach jach ke jibbhaan kaihndi ai
tremblingly, the tongue says
مونہہ آئی بات نہ رہندی اے

بلّھا شوہ اساں تھيں وکھ نہيں

Bulleh, God is not separate from us
بن شوہ تے دوجا ککھ نہيں
bin shau te dooja kakkh naheen
besides God, there is no other at all
پر ويکھن والی اکھ نہيں
par wekhan waali akkh naheen
but the eye that sees is lacking
تاں ہی جان جدائياں سہندی اے
taan hi jaan judaaiyyaan saihndi ai
thus the being endures separation’s sorrow

پڑھ پڑھ علم کتاباں دا توں نام رکھہ لیا قاضی
parh parh ilm kitaabaan da toon naam rakh liya qaazi
having acquired mere bookish knowledge, you’ve dubbed yourself an authority
ہتھ وچ پھڑ کے تلواراں توں نام رکھہ لیا غازی
hath wich pharh ke talvaaraan tu naam rakh liya ghaazi
grabbing hold of swords with your hand, you’ve dubbed yourself a victorious (holy) warrior
مکّے مدینے گھوم آیا توں نام رکھہ لیا حاجی
makke madeene ghoom aaya tu naam rakh liya haaji
having toured Mecca and Medina, you’ve dubbed yourself a noble pilgrim
بلّھا توں کی حاصل کیتا جے یار نہ رکھیا راضی
bullaah tu ki haasil keeta jae yaar na rakhiya raazi
O Bulleh Shah, what did you gain when you couldn’t keep the Beloved pleased
