KaravanThe nationwide release date of Karavan‘s 4th studio album ‘Saraa Jahaan‘ is 26th April 2010 and the album will be released under the Muzik records. This will be Karavan’s first full-scale studio record since Gardish released almost six years ago. Explaining the deal with The Musik Records, Asad told, “We have retained all of our rights. We will get royalties and a lump sum payment as well.”

The band has recorded 3 studio albums and 1 live album to date selling over a million copies in Pakistan alone. The band became an instant hit in the young population of the country due to their classic rock sound and explosive live shows. In 2005 they released an unplugged album on the internet via their website. It had over 150,000 downloads.

For Saraa Jahaan, the process of song writing started way back in the summer of 2007, as Asad was working on basic demos which included simply a verse and a chorus. A few months later Tanseer Daar popped by to hear what was going on instantly he took to the material and the very first song that they came up with was the title track ‘Saara Jahan’. During this process honing material the rest of the band came in at separate times to hear the progression of the material in question. In 2008 they finally setup a basic recording studio where they could record Allan Smith’s drums with this first phase out of the way, 10 drum tracks were recorded out of which they settled for 8. During the summer of 2008 Tanseer and Asad started the lyric writing process. Allan Smith and Sameer Ahmed laid down basic rhythm tracks. Asad and Tanseer entered ex-Vital Signs member Shahi Hasan‘s studio to start working on guitar and vocal tracks and basic sweetening of the songs. Shahi finished mixing Saraa Jahaan; band decided to use live tracks on the album, recorded in 2008 at the Al Nasr Arena as a special treat for their fans. The master has arrived and the band is jazzed about the sound and general vibe of the album.

For now, they have released the first single ‘Kaisay Mumkin Hai‘ from the album ‘Saraa Jahaan’, which has received mostly positive reviews from the listeners and the fans are loving the new look of the band.

The band considers ‘Saraa Jahaan’ as their masterpiece. Now we can only hope that the album comes out as a masterpiece.
